The director, Stuart Rosenberg, had no experience before this film. He directed a few episodes of the TV series “The Untouchables” and “The Twilight Zone” but never a film. This experience propelled him to much success. He went on to direct over a dozen movies.

He was very wealthy due to his film career and from his line of foods products from the label “Newman’s Own.” He began his own organization called “Newman’s Own Foundation.” Since it was founded in 1982 it has helped raise over $500 million for different charitable organizations.
