Diet Coke had Pierce appear in commercials. They portrayed him as a “dashing bond-like character” which caused an issue over the distribution rights of the film and character. This led to the cancellation of Dalton’s third Bond film. After this, Dalton resigned from the franchise. In 1994, Pierce signed up for his first Bond role.

Pierce fulfilled his wife’s dream by starring in multiple Bond films. He appeared in GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day. He certainly made his mark on the role. Robert Ebert stated Bond made the character what it was. It was only in 2005 that Pierce ended his Bond tenure and Daniel Craig took over the role.
