Recently, people have gone on platforms, such as GoFundMe if they are unable to pay for medical expenses. It is definitely admirable that strangers would be willing to help people in need. According to NerdWallet, out of the $2 billion that was raised on GoFundMe in 2015, $930 million went to hospital bills.

Troubling Stats
There may be successful fundraising efforts, but there are also many campaigns which have fallen through. In a report by NerdWallet, it says only ten percent of these campaigns actually hit their financial goals. Most of these people are hopeful that they will get some help from charities, such as the one Harvey founded.
