The moved the iron grille and discovered a hole big enough for their nephew and his friend to crawl through. Good idea, right? On the other side, the kids found a cellar that looked somewhat like a chapel. The couple got in touch with historians and asked them about it. As it turns out, the room dated back to the 1700s. It’s thought that it was used as a secret Catholic Church in the time when Catholics were persecuted and executed.

Hidden Room
Back in 1963, one homeowner was working on renovations for his house when he knocked down a wall and came across a hidden room. While this is exciting, just imagine how excited he was when he found another one. And then another one! The man practically found an entire underground city. Derinkuyu is one of the most impressive and weird archeological discoveries of the 20th century. The old city was created with a huge network of underground tunnels that homed the Hittites.
