In the Japanese secret service, Aki was a top agent who reported directly to Tiger Tanaka. She was strong and self-reliant, and she manipulated Bond into stepping on a trap door, which sent him hurtling down a steel slide into Tanaka’s office. She frequently rescued Bond from imminent danger while driving a Toyota 2000GT. In the middle of the film, an assassin intended to poison Bond but accidentally poisoned Aki instead.

In the film’s opening scenes, Bond and Ling are shown in bed together, and the two of them are seen wondering aloud why Chinese girls have a different flavor than other girls. Two gunmen enter the room as Ling rises from the bed and presses a button that launches it upward into the wall. The audience learns later that Ling assisted in staging Bond’s death to distract his enemies.
