The album’s first single, “Genie in a Bottle,” peaked at number 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and reached the top of the charts twenty other countries! The single alone sold over 1.4 million units in the U.S. alone. Overall, the album was a huge commercial success and is certified octuple platinum by the Record Industry Association of America. It has now sold over 8.2 million copies in the US, and 17 million worldwide.

Her follow-up singles of “What A Girl Wants,” and “Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You)” also topped the charts! Christina had an amazing voice, and a squeaky clean, cute image. She appeared very wholesome and like a beautiful girl next door. Her fame continued to rise and the pop princess won her very first Grammy Award in 2000 for Best New Artist.
