The Hells Angels, and a couple of other motorcycle clubs, consider themselves to be a one-percenter biker club. The phrase dates back to 50 years ago. It operates on the saying that one percent of troublemakers give all the other bikers a bad name. This is supposed to separate them from the negative stereotypes that surround biker gangs and particularly the Hells Angels. But over the years, a number of members have been convicted on various charges like selling narcotics and even murder.

International Charters Continue To Open

At first, the Hells Angels had been based in California. The international expansion started in 1961. That was the year were the first international charter was founded in Auckland, New Zealand. It paved the way for the motorcycle club abroad. In 1969, the club had its first charter in Europe with the opening of its London charter.
