Worst: Whole Grains
Are you aware that there are oils in whole grains? They are normally found in the bran and germ of the grain and explain why they go bad so quickly. This is also true for seeds and nuts. Even though the oils are taken out when the grains are processed, they tend to stick to the grain.
Worst: Jerky
Beef jerky is full of preservatives such as salt and spices, so you might think that it would stay fresh for some time. However, the truth is that you need to keep it in the fridge after you open the snack. Jerky packages even say that it needs to be consumed within three days of opening. Even when you store it in the fridge, jerky only lasts around a week or two. This is the reason you should only get the small packs.
