While the surfers may be pleased with the swells off the coast of Florida, so do the sharks. Every year around 29 people suffer from Shark attacks, with nine of which occured at this exact beach in 2017. While the amount of attacks has significantly dropped, it’s not close to over.

The coastline of Texas is filled with signs that say “Swim At Your Own Risk,” and the reason is quite valid. While the pollution levels are extremely high, there is also a high level of fecal bacteria due to overflowing water from sewers. In 2017 and 2018, three of the Galveston County beaches, Rettilon Road, Magnolia Lane, and Helen Boulevard saw terrible pollution levels. However, if the sewage stops being thrown in, then the sea can clean itself again.
