Dolly Parton explained that her signature appearance was actually inspired by a working girl. During one interview, she talked about how she saw a woman with red lipstick, high heels, and big yellow hair when she was a child. Even at such a young age, she knew that this was what she wanted to look like.

Regardless, she has chosen to keep performing under her maiden name. Her husband Carl seems to prefer living outside of the spotlight, and he apparently only watched his wife perform once.
