Solid Gold
They constructed sewers to collect waste, but not all of it is useless. In 2009, the staff of a Japanese treatment clinic received 5 million yen in gold. They were extracting sludge when they discovered the valuable metal. Because there were so many precise machinery makers in the area, they were able to utilise the metal. They uncovered 1,890 grams of gold for every ton of rubbish!

Luxury Watches
In actuality, the sewers are home to more luxury and value that we may first believe. Aaron Large, drain specialist, discovered four luxury watches in England’s drains in 2012. Not ordinary timepieces, but a £21,000 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph in 18-carat gold. Furthermore, an additional Rolex was located, as well as two other valuable products not long after. One watch was actually reunited with it’s owner, while the others turned out to be counterfeit. Aaron’s boss was more than pleased with his efforts.
