Princess Tsuguko of Takamado was born on March 8, 1986, and was the eldest daughter of Norihito, Prince Takamado, and Hisako, Princess Takamado. Princess Tsuguko was a member of the Imperial House of Japan and left Tokyo last 2004 to pursue criminal psychology and sociology at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Since she left the University, Princess Tsuguko began to work on the Japan Committee for UNICEF, went to ceremonies and events at the Imperial Palace, and escorted her mother to multiple official events. Princess Tsuguko had been ranked by Forbes magazine as the 15th on The Hottest Young Royals list.
