Elvis had been a big fan of comedy his whole life. He was known for frequently quoting whole monologs and screening the newest comedies. For a while, he liked watching The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson, though this changed after a joke the host made in 1975. Carson called Elvis “fat and 40” during The King’s 40th birthday. He was not amused and stopped watching the show completely. Yikes!

Their First Trip Together
After he left Germany, he stayed in touch with Priscilla through the phone. It took them several years and a lot of pleading before her parents allowed her to go to Los Angeles to visit him. Of course, they made sure he was paying for her first-class round-trip flight. They also wanted her to be chaperoned the entire time and asked her to write home on a daily basis. At the time, Elvis wanted to take her to Las Vegas without her parents finding out. This was when she took pills to keep up with her future husband.
