The Real Lagoon

So, about the famous lagoon! They constructed it particularly for Gilligan’s Island in CBS’s Studio City way back in 1964. In the beginning, the crew envisioned shooting twice in Malibu. As a consequence of fog, they regularly had downtime. In addition, the water dropped to 40 degrees in the winter. Burr! That is the reason Bob Denver wore his wetsuit under his costume for the show. The lagoon water ended up dormant and smelled really bad in the summer. Several years after, CBS tore it down and made it into a parking area for employees in 1995. Thus, the water had to be drained.

Well, That’s Rude
