The 102-year-old Vera Lynn would forever be in the hearts of the World War II soldiers. She warmed their hearts with her charming face and enchanting voice. She was awarded with a British War Medal and became an official dame of the United Kingdom. Vera began singing when she was seven years old and left school for a tour at 11. Vera had vanished from the limelight and had now dedicated her efforts to help women battle cancer and children with disabilities.
Sidney Poitier – Age 92
Sidney Poitier, aged 92, paved the road for Bahamian-American actors. He was famous internationally and had appeared from multiple theatres and was an on-screen Academy Award-winning actor. He was the very first African American actor who had earned a prestigious award. When he retired from acting, he decided to pursue recording, directing, and eventually became a diplomat. He was awarded the British knighthood. He was also granted with a Presidential Medal of Freedom. He had always been upfront against racism and had led multiple charitable works.
