Even after ending on a major cliffhanger, ABC canceled this popular sitcom after a strong fifth season, and supporters are unsurprisingly unimpressed. According to Pop Culture, the network canceled the series after it managed to reach the 100-episode mark in order to capitalize on syndication and streaming profits. According to Diedrich Bader, who plays Greg Otto in American Housewife, the show will not be sold to other networks or streaming services.

This award-winning family drama series will end after its sixth season, which is scheduled to air in 2022. Its exit from NBC was not entirely unexpected. During the third season, creator Dan Fogelman and co-showrunner Isaac Aptaker told Deadline that the show would end “about three seasons in the future.” “We’ve had this end in mind for a long time, so we’re able to plan for it and try to make it feel like it’s a whole, as opposed to a series that’s going to go endlessly,” Aptaker revealed.
