Rapidly Declining
In the ‘90s, the records showed that the animals had a population of around 12 million. Sadly, this is still rather low. By 2010, the numbers have gone down to 6 million. There are only 3 million of them now.
On The Bright Side
While the animals were stored in such bad conditions, the team was still glad that they were able to save thousands of them. Lots were in bad shape, which meant that they had to take care of them properly as soon as possible. It was time to take them somewhere much safer.
