Meryl Streep sings “Stay With Me” in the film, and her portrayal of The Witch earned her a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Susan Wloszczyna of RogerEbert.com praised Streep’s renditions of “Stay with Me” and “Last Midnight,” describing her performance as “practically everyone else in the dust and by design.”

Meryl Streep portrayed Ricki, an elderly rocker who longs to be reunited with the adult children she abandoned, in this non-musical that is jam-packed with songs. Seeing Meryl Streep play guitar in her crazy hair, blue eye shadow, and high-heeled Doc Martens was the highlight, in our opinion.
