Kirsty Bertarelli – 9.7B GBP
If the name is familiar to you, it is likely because she won the 1988 Miss UK beauty pageant and ended up second runner-up in Miss World. However, you might not know that she is one of the wealthiest women in the UK. She earned more popularity when she wrote the hit “Black Coffee” for All Saints. It dominated the pop charts across the country and even overseas! Bertarelli continues to write songs and even performed tracks of her own at some point. She got married to the Swiss businessman Ernesto Bertarelli in the same year “Black Coffee” came out. They now live in Switzerland with their three kids.
Alisher Usmanov – 10.5B GBP
Fine, this one is something of a copout. The Russian-born multibillionaire Alisher Usmanov is not really a UK citizen. However, he has appeared multiple times on the list of richest individuals in the UK released by The Guardian. This is likely because he has a lot of real estate properties in the capital. He also owns nearly one-third of Arsenal FC. He had his start making plastic bags after the Soviet Union collapsed. He then took the money he made and made good investments early in the game. We can only wish we invested in Spotify and Facebook as well! That aside, he likes both fencing and the Paralympic Games.
