His Father’s Influence
Even though his father didn’t think Sam should have pursued an acting career, he feels that his character stemmed from his father. There was always something about his father’s shadow that sat on his mind. “I wanted him to be proud of me. That’s the worst part of it. When you don’t think your dad’s proud of you – I knew he was in other areas. You know, I could catch more trout than he or any of his friends. He was proud of that… I don’t think he got the theater arts.”
