That was the reality for McKayla Maroney, who first made waves in gymnastics after she became one of the Fierce Five to have won gold during the 2012 Summer Olympics. They snapped a photo of the gymnast after she received the silver medal, and it ended up becoming a popular meme on the Internet. It was accompanied by this tagline: “McKayla’s not impressed”. She has retired from the sport after suffering numerous injuries.
