Gloria went on to become an artist, author, actress, fashion designer, and socialite. In the 1970s she started a line of fashion, perfumes, and household items with her last name.

She is most well known for her line of jeans. An Indian designer approached in 1976 about launching a line of jeans with Vanderbilt’s signature embroidered on the back pocket. The jeans were sometimes called “before their time,” and were tighter than other jeans.
