Chevrolet Malibu
With its sheet metal handsomely styled and its aggressive front end, the Chevrolet Malibu is among the best options when it comes to family sedans. Its interior offers more legroom in the rear-seat than before, whereas the overall design and materials give the sedan an upscale look. A 160-hp turbo 1.5L four-cylinder is under the hood, while a 250-hp turbo 2.0L four is optional. The engines come with a six-speed automatic and a front-wheel drive. The Chevrolet Malibu is a favorite family sedan and it is a great car in itself. It is attractive, relatively light for the class it belongs to, and solidly built.

Ford Explorer
The Explorer is an SUV that is still a contender owing to its premium interior which seats seven, rather high-tech features, and pretty robust mechanics. It has a 290-hp V-6 and front-wheel drive as standard, but there is an optional all-wheel drive. Other powerplants include a 280-horsepower turbo four and a 365-horsepower twin-turbo V-6, which also comes with a Sport model that has a sport-tuned chassis and an all-wheel drive. The Explorer offers a solid ride with a quiet cabin, but it feels larger than it actually is.
