Elvis Presley was interred at Forest Hill Cemetery right beside his beloved mother on August 18. Even though it was a Thursday, tens of thousands of his admirers joined the funeral procession route to the cemetery. However, a tragedy occurred during the wee hours of the same night right outside the gates. A car drove into the crowd of people holding the candlelight vigil. The driver hit three women and killed two of them. Tammy Baiter was tone was the sole survivor of the unfortunate attack.

Only two weeks before Elvis was discovered on the bathroom floor, three former bodyguards of his came out with a tell-all book called Elvis: What Happened? They were fired the year before that to cut costs, though it ultimately cost The King more than he bargained for. He attempted to pay them to keep the book under wraps, though they turned down his offer. Elvis only started deteriorating further after the release of the nonfiction book.
