His Father Spent Jail Time
To protect the public image of The King, it was kept a secret that his father was locked up. People only found out about it after Elvis’ death. In 1976, Vernon Presley went to Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman for forging a check. Before this, he already spent 6 months in the Tupelo jail while awaiting a trial. He received the check over the sale of a hog, although he was not impressed with the value. He added a couple of zeros, but it did not go without notice.
Elvis Loved His Guns
Since he was born and raised in the south, The King was a huge collector of guns. He was even known to carry them around with him! Apparently, he had 37 different kinds of rifles, guns, and machine guns overall. People even recalled that he hated Robert Goulet and Mel Torme so much that he would use the firearms to point and shoot the television whenever they appeared on the screen. After his death, a gun of his was sold at an auction for $28,000.
