Prodigal Son

The Fox serial killer drama starring Michael Sheen and Tom Payne was abruptly canceled after its second season, despite show creators telling Deadline in May that “WBTV is shopping it as we speak.” There has been no word since then on whether the show has been picked up by another network or streaming service, but distraught fans have launched a campaign to save it. According to a Change.org petition, Fox executives should either renew Prodigal Son or allow streaming services like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video to pick up the show. Over 51,000 people have already signed it. There’s even a hashtag #SaveProdigalSon on Twitter.

HBO and the BBC have renewed this fantasy drama series, based on Philip Pullman’s trilogy of the same name, for a third and final season. The final season will most likely center on the events of The Amber Spyglass, the third book in the His Dark Materials series. Unlike the 2007 film adaptation, The Golden Compass, which was a critical and commercial flop, the TV adaptation featuring Dafne Keen, James McAvoy, Ruth Wilson, and Lin-Manuel Miranda has received mostly positive reviews. And, unlike some of the other TV shows on this list, Season 3 of His Dark Materials will conclude the series naturally.
