Pierce had a Catholic upbringing and still practices. He does hold aspects of other religions close to his heart. For instance, he agrees with some aspects of Buddhism.

Environmental Work
Pierce and his wife Keely are environmentalists and over the years they have helped with a variety of causes. For example in the 1990s, he worked with Greenpeace to lobby for ending nuclear testing. He and his wife have also worked with the Natural Resources Defense Council and the International Fund for Animal Welfare.
