The ship required a closer look and soon enough, the Myanmar Navy decided to take an inspection at the Sam Ratulangi. By then, the rust had already spread to different sections of the ship. However, the more the officials looked around for clues, the more they felt intrigued about the events that could have led to the current situation. They did not find anyone aboard the ship. You can imagine how puzzled the officials must have been with the sudden appearance of the vessel.

The last recorded journey the Sam Ratulangi made dated all the way back to 2009. It had been sailing near Tainan City, Taiwan at the time. The cargo ship was constructed in Indonesia and it regularly sailed around Asia before it seemingly disappeared. August 2018 was the first time it was spotted in a long time. The officials felt skeptical about the whole thing, though they kept watching the ship in case anyone provided them any hints of what happened to it. They were at a loss, so the waiting game was their best bet.
