Another Ship
As you can imagine, the Myanmar Navy had no idea about the reappearance of the Sam Ratulangi. Soon enough, however, they discovered a clue that could point them in the right direction. The radar showed that two ships had been sailing near each other in the days before it washed up on the shore. Where could the other vessel be? The Navy worked hard to track down a tugboat. It was called Independence and it did not take long for the realization to kick in.

The Plan
The officials tracked down the tugboat and found 13 crew members aboard it. The authorities promptly took them in for questioning. The men confirmed that they had indeed been hauling the Sam Ratulangi when the terrible weather conditions caused it to cut loose. According to them, they were supposed to drag the ship over to Bangladesh so that they could sell it to shipbreakers for some money. If things went according to plan, it would have been dismantled and salvaged of anything of value.
