Tippi was amongst numerous animals, but she was only ever bitten once. Her middle name is Okanti, meaning mongoose or meerkat. Ironically, a Meerkat was responsible for the first bite she ever got and it was on the nose. However, an incident involving Cindy the baboon aslo happened, with Tippi getting attacked and a handful of her hair pulled out. Sylvie believes it was an act of jealousy.

When the “outside world” found out about Tippi, they immediately wanted to learn more about her. There have been multiple documentaries made about Tippi and her experiences, including Le Monde Selon Tippi (or The World According to Tippi) (1997), Tippi en Afrique (2002), and Around the World with Tippi (2004).
