No One Recognizes This Duck Dynasty Star After He Shaves Off His Beard

Published on 07/02/2019

After running for 11 seasons on A&E, Duck Dynasty has more than proven its popularity and entertainment power as a reality TV show. It has shown us the Robertsons, a family in Louisiana with strong religious faith and a duck business worth millions of dollars. Despite the fact that most of the audiences think they are the latest version of the Beverly Hillbillies, the men in this family are known for their untamed and long beards! One of them specifically shaved his beard in its entirety which created a drastic change in the way he looked that no one recognized him…

TV Fame

Jase, one of the Robertson brothers, rose to fame not only for his bushy beard but also for his witty comments. However, he recently informed his fans that it was finally time to bid his bushy beard goodbye. No one could predict how he would look. It appeared that even his own wife did not know how he would look without the beard and was surprised by the result.

The Robertson Patriarch

The patriarch of the family, Phil Robertson, is also the founder of their thriving duck calling business. He was a skillful football quarterback back in his time at Louisiana Tech that he was even scouted there for the NFL. He turned down the incredible opportunity because it would get in the way of the duck hunting season! In 1973, he started his very own duck call company which became very successful and it was just the beginning.

The Robertson Patriarch

Fame By Facial Hair

Every single male in the Robertson family grew out their beards in accordance with their outdoor lifestyle in the south. Their beards are now their trademark and are even an essential part of their duck hunting enterprise. Thanks to the popularity they have gained, the beards are never coming off. This is why fans and even Jase’s family were all so surprised when he decided to cut it all off.

The Robertson Family

In the reality show, you will see that there are many members of this close-knit family. One of the couples on the show is Phil Robertson and his wife Miss Kay who tied the knot when she was just 15 years old. The two of them have four sons together, namely: Alan, Jase, Jep, and Willie. All of the said children have a family of their own, but they still actively participate in how their duck-hunting business is run. A lot of the grandchildren also play important roles on the show. One of them, Willie’s daughter, even joined the competition Dancing With the Stars! But however close the family is, they still had no idea what Jase had in mind when it came to his beard.

Duck Dynasty Dilemma

Were you an avid fan? Then, you’ve most likely heard of the controversy that surrounded the Duck Dynasty. We are referring to the time when Phil, who had a magazine interview, released some offensive statements. This caused the short suspension of the program, and some claim that it was also the reason why the ratings of the said show dropped. Consequently, the show was altogether stopped after enjoying 11 bankable seasons. This led us to the question whether this was also Jase’s reason for getting rid of his beard.

The Funny And Good-Looking One

Jase Robertson is Phil Robertson’s and Miss Kay’s second child. Now, he also works as the COO of the family business. If you’ve seen the show, you might remember that he is both the funniest and the most good-looking among the sons of Miss Kay and Phil Robertson. But we still wonder what made him decide to shave off his famous beard.

The Funny And Good-Looking One

The Funny And Good-Looking One

A Good Reason

Despite the fact that all the Robertson men have long, bushy beards, Jase’s beard is a bit more special than the others. This may be one of the reasons why many of their fans and relatives were surprised when he finally decided to bid his facial hair goodbye. What’s great about his decision was that he chose to do it for an incredible reason that was very close to his heart.

A Good Reason

A Good Reason

His Little Girl

His daughter, Mia, was born with a cleft lip and palate. This is a condition that naturally happens when the baby’s top lip doesn’t form normally while it is still inside the mother’s womb and the skull doesn’t get attached to the top of the mouth correctly. Fortunately, this is not a serious condition and can be treated easily with a surgical procedure. However, this might cause the child to have some speech difficulties as he or she grows up.

Mia had the corrective surgery in 2014 to connect the lip and palate properly. Jase and his wife were nervous about the surgery that their precious daughter would have to go through. But they were amazed at the amount of support that they received from their fans at the time. It must have been the time when they decided to start their own charity that would focus on helping children who have the same condition.

The Mia Moo Fund

Jase then started to work on raising funds for the foundation that he and his wife Missy made in honor of their daughter Mia. The organization was named the “Mia Moo Fund.” Cute, right? They did something that was personally important to them and also to pay tribute to their beloved daughter.

Setting Their Goals

If they were set on meeting their goals, they had to raise a lot of funds for their charity to successfully help those who have the same condition as Mia. This is exactly the reason why Jase decided to get rid of his beard. The said pledge would not only be beneficial to the charity but also to Jase’s wife, Missy, who hasn’t seen him without a beard for seven years! He committed to shaving his beard off if they managed to raise a hundred thousand dollars. However, Jase was still not confident that they could raise the said amount.

Beardless Robertson Brother

Although most of the Roberston men had beards, Al, their eldest brother didn’t really follow such tradition. He was seen clean-shaven when the show was televised. Jase himself trimmed his brief a few times in the past, usually in between filming, so he could grow his beard out in front of the cameras. However, he hasn’t sported the clean-shaven look for seven years.

People With No Beards

The Duck Dynasty’s avid fans were totally shocked when the news came out that Jase had pledged to shave his beard off. After all, they had seen him stating opposing views about it on a previous episode. He would say, “There are two kinds of people without beards, children, and women, I am neither.” His comment may have been playful, but we seriously doubt if he would be laughing after losing his beard.

Desire To Be Anonymous

This famous personality from the Duck Dynasty has once considered getting rid of his beloved beard. In fact, in a 2013 interview, he talked about saying goodbye to his beard after the show is done. However, the reason he stated then was not for charity but for his desire for the public not to recognize him! He had such a thought because fans would always walk up to him and ask him for photos.

Time To Say Goodbye

Although his motive now for shaving off his beard is quite noble, it was still a decision that took an awful amount of thinking through before he could do anything. He appeared to even experience getting cold feet which were understandable as it would be such a significant change for him. A beard was useful to a duck hunter as it would help him camouflage in the environment. After doing a lot of thinking, Jase finally decided that saying goodbye to his beard would help their charity and their cause.

Problems Came With It

Even though beards are quite useful in the duck hunting field, they also come with a cost. Jase experienced getting held off at the airport and was subjected to an extremely thorough search because of his long beard. It was even longer since it was at the end of a season. Airport security felt the need to search him because of how he looked.

Mistaken For A Caveman

Once the security search was done by the airport staff, he was once again stopped, this time by a fan who asked for his autograph. Jase gave him one and started a conversation with the young boy. However, it turned out that the boy had never heard of the show before but thought that Jase was a Geico caveman! After such a hilarious encounter, it was safe to say that he found the whole shaving-off-his-beard business a lot more reasonable.

Thanks To The Beard

Both Jase and his beard are very important to the family business. Because of his hard work and dedication, Jase was able to amass a staggering net worth of $10 million. Jase could decide to retire anytime and not starve for it, but instead, he chose to shift his focus on a noble cause.

After The Show

After the Duck Dynasty ended, Jase thought that it was time to spend more time with his family and friends. He started a website named “CamoFix,” which aims to inform their fans about what is happening with their lives after their long-running reality TV show. He also appeared in some Christian events and gatherings to show his support. Now that he doesn’t have to film for the said show, he has the time to pay more attention to the things that he is really passionate about.

Making The Announcement

When Jase announced that he was going to shave off his beard in June, many of his fans were surprised. He and Missy appeared on the Fox morning show to discuss this as well as his reasons behind such a huge decision. They have already set the date and it’s on September 4. Jase had already informed his barber about it. It appeared that Missy had totally forgotten how her husband looked without any beard! Duck Dynasty certainly found the said event exciting. At last, it was time to reveal what Jase looked like minus his famous beard.

A New Look

Jase had already expected that the ‘event’ would create a lot of fanfare from their fans that’s why he decided to stream the whole thing on Facebook live. While he was sitting on the chair, Missy took over the camera and recorded every detail. His friend was responsible for shaving his beard off and styling his hair to match his new look. You will be pleased with how the whole family reacted to his new appearance.

As was predicted, Jase looked totally different without his beard! His new clean-cut look has dramatically highlighted the difference in his new appearance now from the rest of his brothers. All of the family members were quite happy about the result, but Missy was actually the one who was the most pleased about it. She said that Jase looked like a different man but she liked his new look now. She even shared on Twitter that she had started flirting with him more now after his makeover. We totally get what she means as we also can’t believe the transformation.

Growing It Back

Even though his fans knew that he would eventually grow his beard back, they still took the time to really see and appreciate how he looked without the beard. He might have a tougher time when he hunts, but his wife’s reaction alone made the whole thing worth it. What’s more important is that he managed to raise the funds they needed for their foundation, which also made his whole family proud of him and his efforts.

During an interview, Willie admitted that their growing up years were “rough and tough…it created us to be independent and real confident.” We’re sure that no one thought that one of these cute little kids would run a multi-million dollar company one day! A lot of the family members of this famous family actually live near each other. With this setup, you can see how close they are and you can just imagine the pain they must have gone through in seeing one of their family members die because of cancer.
