The British Seabed

Owned Since: 1066
Valued At: Over $100 billion*
Just as Queen Elizabeth II owns a good portion of the United Kingdom’s coastline, she owns the British Seabed as well. When the Norman Conquest first created the territory. The Queen owns the seabed, which means she owns all of the mining rights. $60 billion of oil would certainly be worth exploring below the seabed. These profits go along with the significant profit from the Thanet offshore wind farm off the coast of Kent. Besides these valuable natural resources, there is one underwater territory that is privately owned.

The $10 billion acquisition added even more value to the $10 billion art collection. This incredible collection includes original works over the centuries, including Peter Paul Rubens, Fan Hals, Leonardo da Vinci, and Rembrandt.

All the Swans on the River Thames

Owned Since: 15th Century
Valued At: $130,000*

The Queen was born in 1926, but her right to own all the swans dates back to the 15th Century. Her Majesty actually owns all of the “unclaimed mute swans” on any water throughout England and Wales. Considering a swan will cost around $300, this small nest egg is worth around $130,000. This was one of the Royals’ most impressive collections, as swans were a delicacy back then. Now, this is no longer the case. The Queen conducts an annual swan count to ensure their numbers are still strong.

1333 Diamond Tiara

Owned Since: 1953
Valued At:
$700,000*
The Rundell & Bridge created the famous 1333 Diamond Diadem tiara in 1820. George IV charged the designers of the headpiece. As part of the Queen Victoria collection, it became a famous piece. The queen wore the tiara at her coronation in 1953. An estimated $700,000 worth of today’s cash is enough to turn Tiffany’s green with envy. She wears it on all the stamps and banknotes of the Commonwealth. The tiara can be seen at Buckingham Palace when it is not on the queen’s head.

A Team of Racehorses

Owned Since: 1940s
Valued At:
$9 million*
Horse racing has a long history in Britain. It is unlikely that Her Majesty had to place a bet on DraftKings, but she is aware of the gambling world. Elizabeth first began racing with her mother but has since gone on to own several winning horses. In the end, over 451 races were won by the Queen, and she amassed a fortune of $9 million. Liz has 30 horses actively working and always keeps a keen eye on any up and coming investments. Horses have been a longstanding tradition of many royal families.

The Tower of London

Owned Since: 1953
Valued At:
$56 billion*
Thanks to her position on the throne, Queen Elizabeth II is the rightful owner of $56 billion in assets. It belongs, technically, to whoever has the crown. The structure was first built back in 1078, but in the 16th and 17th centuries, it became best-known as a prison for its history. Famous names were held captive within its walls, like Sir Walter Raleigh and Queen Elizabeth I before taking the throne. It once housed England’s Crown Jewels and then was used by the Tudors as a royal residence.

Regent Street

Owned Since: Date unknown
Valued At:
$2 billion*
To get the property on Regent Street in London for £200, you will have to pay a lot more than that in real life. The Queen doesn’t have to worry about raising money for her paper. She owns most of it already. For a long time, the Crown Estate has been a proud owner of $2 billion in the property. Most likely, it is an ancient, long-standing deal that predates Elizabeth herself. Regent Street has since become one of England’s most significant road stretches, and not just because of all the excellent shopping opportunities it offers.

50,000-acre Balmoral Estate in Northeast Scotland

Owned Since: 1451
Valued At: $140 million* (Balmoral Castle)
Balmoral Estate is rumored to be the Queen’s favorite residence. The entire estate in Aberdeenshire covers 50,000 acres. The Royal Family keeps expanding it, and the Estate is definitely functioning. Balmoral has farmland, grouse moors, deer, and cattle herds are managed. “Bouchmorale” appeared in the British Crown’s records in 1451. “Bouchmorale” became “Balmoral” in 1856. Later, Prince Albert, the king’s consort, redesigned the Balmoral property. One of the most impressive buildings in Scotland is Balmoral Castle. Prince Albert, the queen’s consort, purchased the lot. The queen does not own the land; she holds it privately.

20,000-acre Sandringham Estate in Norfolk

Owned Since: 1862
Valued At: $65 million* (House)
The Sandringham Estate is Queen Elizabeth II’s country home. It has been around since the Elizabethan Era when the property was built. Sandringham changed ownership several times. The Estate was not in Royal hands until 1862. The King at the time was devoted to Sandringham, once writing in a letter to his mother that he was “so happy” there and “love[d] the place.” It took three decades to build the manor for the Prince of Wales fully. It is also the site of King George V’s death.

The Crown has owned the land for generations. Recent additions to the portfolio include drilling rights.

A Bat Colony

Owned Since: 2019
Valued At:
Priceless
One of Her Majesty’s favorite things is a bat colony set up in her own main hall at Balmoral Castle. Other reported facts suggest that Elizabeth may have developed a new hobby motivated by Discovery Channel programming. The animals set up a camp in the main house’s main hall, but Elizabeth was active instead of leaving it to sort it out. The royal employees release the bats from the castle and keep the windows open so that the bats can reenter the property at their leisure.

An Estimated 6.6 Billion Acres of Land Worldwide

Owned Since: 1066

Queen Elizabeth II holds a large land share globally, and that share is directly under her personal control. Behind the Queen are billions of acres of King Abdullah. The Queen is the monarch of 32 countries. She is the Commonwealth (of Nations) Chair. The crown estate has a portfolio that returns its profits to the royal treasury. However, Queen Elizabeth gets a 15% profit. If you are not shocked by 6.6 billion acres, that’s one-sixth of the surface of the Earth. Many of these large holdings were purchased during the days of colonization.

The Crown has a monopoly over salmon fishing in Scotland and the rights to goldmines. We do not know when the mines were included in the real estate holdings of the Royal Family.

Valued At:

Most of us could only dream of owning a more valuable diamond than we paid for our car. The Queen is the proud protector of the 530.2-carat diamond. Before being used as part of the Sovereign’s Sceptre with Cross, the diamond was first presented to Mary of Teck in 1910. The diamond is seen rarely outside of the crown jewels. The Cullinan Diamond was tough to cut and split. There were nine stunning stones in the original diamond that collectively added a fortune to the Queen’s wealth.

Despite her love for her swans and bats, some Royal courtiers have suggested that Elizabeth holds a special place in her heart for dolphins.

Valued At:
$19 billion*
Queen Elizabeth II has plenty of greenery, from her home to other parts of the UK. She owns Hyde Park, located in London. Amazingly, an estimated $19 billion worth of Hyde Park makes it a very lucrative slice of land. It was reclaimed back in 19660 by the monarchy and since then has remained one of the four Royal Parks around Kensington Palace. While many concerts and other events also occur there, Londoners use it as a place to socialize. Some of the very first motion pictures ever made were captured in 1889 near Apsley Gate.

A Private ATM

Valued At: $8,000*

When she’s at Buckingham Palace, Her Majesty doesn’t have to worry about running down to the local Bank of America ATM. For a start, Coutts, an ultra-exclusive ancient institution that has been around since 1692, is her bank of choice. The Queen just has to pop down into her basement to withdraw cash instead of sending out a butler with her card, though she rarely needs it anyway. When Coutts installed the ATM in the London-based residence, it is unknown, but the machine itself would probably cost about $8,000, not including the money inside it.

As you’ve guessed, an exceptional amount of the United Kingdom and beyond is owned by the Crown Estate. 25,000 acres of rural land used for farming is among its impressive property portfolio. Some of the lands lie completely untouched, like dense woodlands that were as great as they were today hundreds of years ago. It might be difficult to imagine a world in which the Crown manages to hold onto the land forever, as cities and new developments continue to spring up across England. While England has a very distinctive flag, on the whole, Queen Elizabeth II wanted something of her own that represented her, not the whole nation. 1970 Daimler Vanden Plas

Owned Since: 1970
Valued At: $80,000*
The 1970 Daimler Vanden Plas was the early version of the DS420, which the Royal Family used most frequently. The Plas was named “Vanden Plas” on its license plates. Like later variations, the Plas was made for formal use. Jordan’s King Hussein ordered Queen Elizabeth’s model. Vanden Plas Works, a factory in Kingsbury, London, was named after its location. Original Queen’s versions, courtesy of Park Sheet Metal, Pressed Steel Fisher, and Coventry’s Motor Panels, were made of sheet metal shells.
