While England has a very distinctive flag, on the whole, Queen Elizabeth II wanted something of her own that represented her, not the whole nation. She charged the College of Arms with creating something extraordinary in 1960. The result was a navy blue flag topped with a crown and surrounded by a circle of flowers, with a gold E. It was first used the following year for an important visit to India and has since been used in her residences to indicate that she is home instead of the Royal Standard.

1961 Rolls-Royce Phantom V

Owned Since: 1960/1961
Valued At: $520,000*
1961’s Rolls-Royce Phantom V is another in a long line of Royal Family-owned Rolls Royces. Compared to mass-produced cars, Phantom V is rare. In 1960 and later, when a second copy was produced, the V joined Queen Elizabeth’s cars collection. Now, Sandringham’s cars and HMY Britannia are on public display. Until their retirement in 2002, the vehicles were active for forty years. The Rolls-Royce Phantom V registration plate from 1961 is “NLT 1,” a plate she ordered in 1962, which only the Prince of Wales now uses.
