Laurence Graff is the mind behind Graff Diamonds. The half-Romanian and half-Russian businessman was born in Stepney in 1938. After dropping out of school at the age of 15, he went on to become a jeweler’s apprentice and sold his designs across the country. He eventually launched two independent shops before founding the company in 1966. He became famous when a designer under the brand took home the De Beers Diamond Award. The company has since grown into what it is now. Aside from the UK, Graff Diamonds also operates in the Middle East and creates diamonds for rich Arab personalities.

Philip Green is the chairman of the Arcadia Group, a huge retail conglomerate. Among others, the company houses lines like Topman, Dorothy Perkins, Wallis, and Topshop. Although he has been wildly successful with his business, he has been under fire for different controversies. A major one would be the downfall of the BHS brand. The line was criticized after it drowned it debt but paid out half a billion to the Greens. This nearly cost him the stripping of his knighthood!
