Georgia
in Steven Spielberg’s The Color Purple, featuring the fabulous Whoopi Goldberg, Danny Glover, and Oprah Winfrey. Its as though you can feel the baking hot Georgia sun weighing down on every cast member It spotlights the fight that Goldberg’s character goes through, but also displays her continuous strength and determination. And as if that wasn’t enough, the Georgia-set runners-up are the incredible Gone With the Wind, hip-hop spectacle ATL, Edgar Wright’s high-octane Baby Driver, the frightening Deliverance, the adorable Love, Simon, and Halle Berry’s fierce drama Monster’s Ball.
Hawaii
A definite favorite, not only for kids is the delightful Disney movie Lilo & Stitch. This had to be our Hawaii choice as it portrays some genuine Hawaiian culture. For anyone who has already watched the film, will forever remember that “Ohana means family”. And for everybody that is a fan of Elvis, we’re a fan of yours too. And the Hawaii runner-ups: quintessential love story From Here to Eternity, George Clooney’s plunge into American insecurity in The Descendants last but not least the unconventional yet exemplary love story Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
